DM6266F Digital Clamp Meter: Reads the Current, Then the Frequency
A clamp meter earns its place in the toolbox when you need current on a live conductor without cutting power. The DM6266F does that up to 1000 A AC, and it adds a frequency range most budget clamps leave out. DC voltage runs from 2 V to 1000 V at ±1.5%, and AC voltage covers 200 V and 750 V at ±1.7%. The clamp ranges are 200 A and 1000 A AC at ±3.8%, resistance goes from 200 Ω up to 2000 MΩ at ±4.2%, and frequency reads to 2000 Hz at ±1.5%. A continuity buzzer, low-battery indication and overload protection are standard.
The display is a 1999-count LCD, 43 by 22 mm, which is the honest reading surface for this class. It is powered by one 9 V 6F22 battery, measures 232 by 100 by 39 mm and weighs about 245 g.
The Frequency Range Most Clamps Skip
Variable-frequency drives output a frequency, not just a current, and a meter that cannot read Hz leaves you guessing whether the drive is obeying its setpoint. The DM6266F reads frequency to 2000 Hz, which covers the output of most VFDs and motor speed checks without a second instrument.
Keep it in context: this is not a bench instrument. The 1999-count display and the frequency ceiling mean it is built for field verification, not laboratory metrology. That is the trade-off that keeps the price where it is.
Where the DM6266F Fits in the Range
Stacked against the VC3268, the DM6266F is the simpler, sturdier option: the VC3268 is a 4000-count compact clamp with DC current and capacitance, while the DM6266F reaches 1000 A AC and adds frequency. The 266 series covers the industrial 1000 A end, and the VC3270 adds a large jaw for thick feeders. If the daily job is motors, panels and drive feeds, the DM6266F is the workhorse in the middle.
It is a multimeter around the clamp too. Voltage, resistance and continuity are all on the dial, so the meter travels for socket and panel checks without a second tool.
